Neueda Tech Academy breaks down barriers to a career in IT

13 non-IT graduates embark on 12-week tech training programme with major employer

G lobal tech company Neueda, in partnership with the Department for the Economy, has welcomed 13 graduates onto its Tech Academy programme, designed to provide an alternative, accelerated route into a career in IT for non-computer science graduates.

Neueda Tech Academy students, with degrees from a wide spectrum of disciplines, each expressed an interest to retrain, upskill and pursue careers in tech.

The participants, who were selected from over 110 applicants, will complete an intensive 12-week training programme designed by Neueda and delivered at Belfast Met, E3 campus.

On successful completion of the Neueda Tech Academy, graduates will have the opportunity to apply for full-time roles with the company. The programme covers the technical and non-technical skills required for candidates to forge a successful career in today’s IT sector with Neueda.

Participants will learn from the company’s senior developers, sharing their global IT experience and expertise, and will be mentored by some of the most talented software engineers in Ireland.

Welcoming the intake of graduates, Brendan Monaghan, CEO at Neueda said:

“This is the second year of our Tech Academy and we are delighted to bring 13 talented graduates into the programme.

“Some members of the group have little or no IT experience and this is often what deters people from following their passion for technology. We believe firmly that this barrier has to be removed if the IT sector is going to continue to grow with fresh talent.

“Technical skills can be developed and taught, but potential, wiliness to learn and ambition come from within, and are 100% worth investing in,” Brendan said.

The inaugural Neueda Tech Academy in 2017 resulted in all 16 graduates securing full-time positions with the business. Speaking about her experience on last year’s Tech Academy, Neueda employee Alex McNaney, said:

“I wasn’t sure what route I wanted to follow but knew I wanted to carve out a career in IT somehow. Throughout the Tech Academy process, Neueda guided and supported me to develop my skills and focus in on the area I was most passionate about.

“I now work full-time in Neueda’s busy data analytics team with major international clients and projects – somewhere I would never have found myself so quickly without the Tech Academy experience.”
