Neueda attracts talented professionals from all over the world. Emanuel Neumann, UX Designer in Capital Markets, joined our team in Belfast two years ago from Germany. Here, we catch up with Emanuel to find out more about his background, life at Neueda and what makes Belfast special.

Hi Emanuel! Tell us a bit about your background.

I grew up in Frankfurt before moving to Italy to study for my degree in Industrial Design. Following my studies, I set up a business creating short promotional video clips for software start-ups. I also created interactive story-telling app for children.

How did you find out about Neueda?

I gained experience as a UX and UI designer and was interested in focusing my career in this field. I found out that Neueda had UX job vacancies for one of their customers, a tier one bank.

This piqued my interest in Neueda so I researched the company, it’s culture and the work they do. I was impressed with how connected the team was and, in the end, it was an easy decision to join them in Belfast!

What was it like moving to Belfast?

Great! Neueda arranged an apartment for me for the first month, which gave me security in a city that I’d never been to before. This was extremely helpful in the first few weeks while I settle into Neueda and Belfast.

Tell us more about your role at Neueda.

I joined in August 2017 as a UX Designer for applications in Capital Markets. It requires me working closely with our customers to ensure the design and information architecture is user-friendly and implementable by developers.

An in-depth understanding of the business challenges is critical when contributing to meeting business needs. In my role, I argue on behalf of the users, offering a simple solution in what is a complex environment.

What are the main things you’ve learned during your time at Neueda?

I had to build up my capital markets knowledge. Luckily, I received a lot of support and guidance from the Neueda team and was able to tap into a wealth of domain expertise internally.

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on my second major project – FX post-trade risk application – as well as a couple of smaller projects within capital markets. I’ve been able to add further value to Neueda by getting involved with internal design and marketing projects along the way.

What do you enjoy most about Neueda?

Neueda is skills focused so I have the opportunity to move to different markets and expand my skills. It’s a very open structure with training programmes in place to help us improve, upskill and advance our careers. I’m also really happy in Belfast, and I’ve made a lot of new friends here. It’s a great city!
